AVIF usually gives the smallest files, WebP is supported almost everywhere and encodes in every browser, and JPEG is best when you need maximum compatibility. If your browser cannot create AVIF, the tool automatically uses WebP instead.
Screenshots and illustrations saved as PNG often shrink by 90% or more when converted to WebP or AVIF. Photos typically shrink by 50–80% depending on the quality setting.
At a quality of about 70–80 the difference is normally invisible at web sizes. Use the before and after sizes shown for each image and raise the quality if you spot artifacts.
